Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about downloading videos with LinkSave

LinkSave is a free online video downloader. You paste a link from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube or hundreds of other sites, choose a quality, optionally rename the file, and save the video as an MP4 to your phone or computer. No account or app is needed.

Yes. LinkSave costs nothing and needs no account: there is no subscription, premium tier or watermark. It is funded by the display ads on the page. To keep the service fast for everyone, videos are limited to 1 hour and 500 MB each.

Instagram (Reels, posts, IGTV), TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube and YouTube Shorts, Reddit, Vimeo, Pinterest, Dailymotion, Twitch clips and many more. Private videos, stories that need a login, and DRM-protected streams (Netflix, Disney+, etc.) are not supported.

Every file LinkSave delivers is an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, the format that plays on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac (QuickTime) and smart TVs. Some platforms only offer newer formats such as VP9 or AV1; in that case LinkSave converts the video for you, so a long video may take a little longer to start downloading.

Yes. After LinkSave reads your link it lists every available quality (for example 1080p, 720p, 480p). Edit the file name box before clicking a quality and your download is saved under that name.

LinkSave never adds its own watermark or branding. You get the video file exactly as the platform serves it, so anything that is part of the original video stays in it.

No. Videos are processed in a temporary folder that is deleted as soon as your download finishes, and we do not keep a history of the links you paste. Like any website, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (deleted within 30 days) for security. Advertising partners such as Google may use cookies; see our Privacy Policy for details.

Yes. LinkSave works in any modern mobile browser. On iPhone, open the link in Safari, tap the quality you want, then find the video in the Files app under Downloads (or save it to Photos from there).

It depends on the video and on where you live. Downloading your own videos, Creative Commons videos, or videos the creator lets you save is fine. For everything else, copyright stays with the creator: keep the copy for private, offline viewing at most, never re-upload, sell or redistribute it without permission, and check the platform's terms, since some (including YouTube) do not allow downloading. Our Terms of Service explain the rules for using LinkSave.
